Some rules for this forum
« on: December 12, 2011, 04:15:41 PM »
I would like to discuss the purpose of having a non-believers board on this forum. There are of course complications when nonbelievers and believers discuss the Bible. By definition a nonbelievers do not believe what is written in the Scriptures. Therefore there cannot be the bases for discussion about the meaning of the Scriptures because they are not given any validity from one side. This does not mean of course that nonbelievers cannot be curious about the Scriptures and what believers understand them to mean. So having nonbelievers asking questions from believers about what they believe the Scripture to mean is legitimate. However for nonbeliever to attempt to argue the Scriptures is ludicrous.

To discuss morality, history, and the church roll in a secular society is also a legitimate discussion to have on a board like this. Something else that's also legitimate discussion between a believer and nonbeliever is the subject of what a Christian is and what a Christian is not. To discuss what a Christian believes is also legitimate however when it turns to the Scriptures we run into the same problem of one side not bleeding at the Scriptures have any validity.

So I think it's appropriate that a nonbeliever asked questions from Christian concerning his beliefs if those answers were taken at face value. I know this is hard to do for someone who does not believe that there is in fact a God who is the creator of all that exist. But if you're curious just want to know what the other believes, then ask the questions that you have no common ground in the Scriptures to debate.

As to the existence of God that can be debated through science or the lack thereof. A lot of atheist have turned their beliefs or non-beliefs around 180° because they have attempted to prove that God did not exist using science and finding the fallacies of theories like Darwin's.

I would ask from nonbelievers, whatever it is here that you wish to discuss please stay within this forum that has been set aside for you to use. Again welcome and thank you, have a good time.
